A High View of God
We believe that God is sovereign in both salvation and providence. He rules His world, reigning as the ultimate and absolute authority in heaven and in earth. In a day when many have surrendered the lofty concept of God portrayed in Scripture, substituting in its place a man-centered, needs-based message, we believe that rediscovery of the character of God is a priority for the church. The God we worship is Eternal, Unchanging, Holy, Omnipotent, Faithful, Wise, Just, and Good. He is the God of Creation, Providence, and Redemption. He is both great and gracious, the sovereign King and the loving Heavenly Father. At Lexington Church, we attempt to maintain this God-centered emphasis because we believe that man exists for God and His glory. The alternative approach to this objective gospel inevitably dethrones God by elevating man. |
