Church Life: Our Quest for Biblical Christianity

A Devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ

Peter said, “Unto you therefore which believe, He is precious” (1 Pet. 2:7a). A Christian is someone who loves the Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity (Eph. 6:24; I Cor. 16:22; I Pet. 1:8). Because they loved Jesus Christ, first-century Christians were willing to spend and be spent for him, sacrificing privilege, reputation, earthly possessions, and even their own lives for His sake. Love to Christ, for who He is and what He has done for sinners, characterizes all true believers. Though the world may despise and reject Him, yet to those who believe, He is precious.
Because iniquity abounds today, the love of many has grown cold. The distractions of life tend to dull our spiritual senses, diverting our affection from Christ to the mundane. We become lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, leaving our “first love.”
At Lexington Church, we desire to assist one another to love Him more by maintaining a Christ-centered emphasis in worship. We believe that worshipers come with a desire to see Jesus, and we desire to placard Him by faith before their gaze.
